We’ve got a question for residents of our apartments on South Congress — how are you supposed to keep up with all the new restaurants opening up in Austin? It seems impossible to try all the new restaurants, but it’s worth giving it your best shot!
We’ve created a list of some of our favorite new restaurants to help our residents discover their favorite new eateries. Check it out and share it with your friends and neighbors at your South Congress Austin apartments.
The first thing most people order at Holy Roller is a basket of Trash Fries, which are French fries covered in street corn, jalapenos, sour cream and cheese. Once you’ve made your way through this massive appetizer, ask your waiter for one of the biscuit sandwiches (either chicken or brisket). We love most of the dishes at Holy Roller, but we really love how they serve brunch all day long.
Holy Roller is rockin place with a friendly, chatty waitstaff. You’ll feel welcomed, as soon as you walk in — like you accidentally stumbled into an awesome party. The interior decor is punk-style, and you’ll see plenty of tattoos and mohawks everywhere you look. It’s all part of the sun at Holy Roller.
This is a great place in which to enjoy some wine and light snacks. Grab the snack plate with hummus, oysters, sea-salt crackers and cheese. Aviary can get a little packed inside, so we recommend going here on a nice day so you can sit outdoors and stretch your legs.
You’re going to have to be willing to be a little adventurous if you want to enjoy the delicious tapas plates at El Chipiron. After all, two of their best dishes are the octopus and the ox tail. You can get these for cheap by going to El Chipiron on Monday, when they have happy hour pricing on food from 5pm to 10pm at the bar.
El Chipiron also has an amazing brunch offering, so check this place out on Sunday if you can’t make it to the Monday evening happy hour. We recommend starting your Sunday brunch right by ordering the ham and cheese board. Then, keep the good times rolling with the spicy-yet-satisfying Huevos Rancheros. El Chipiron has an excellent ambiance, and that’s available any day of the week.
This is a great little spot on the east side for a quick salad or sandwich paired with a glass of wine. La Matta has a sunny patio for when the weather is nice, and a welcoming, colorful interior with floor-to-ceiling windows for when the weather is less than stellar.
La Matta is an Italian restaurant that specializes in italian sandwiches made with fresh meats, cheeses and herbs. We recommend going with the half-sandwich and salad deal, because a full sandwich is be too much food for most people. The atmosphere is so awesome that you’ll probably enjoy whatever you order!
Those are all the restaurant recommendations we’ve got for y’all this week! We hope you enjoyed this post, because we sure had a lot of fun writing it. If you try one of these restaurants and like it, be sure to let us know on Facebook!
