Do you plan on watching rom coms and eating chocolate at your apartments on South Congress, or will you be out at one of the fancy romantic restaurants in Austin? The first option is certainly the more affordable way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but there’s something to be said for enjoying a fancy meal with your Valentine.  What if you could have that fancy meal and save money at the same time? Well, you can!

 

We’ve created a list of recipes you can easily whip up on Valentine’s Day if you want to impress your date. Just make sure you buy some white tablecloths and candles while you’re out getting ingredients for your meal.

Lamb Chops Scottadito with Tomatoes

If you  want to make a dish that looks fancy but doesn’t take much work, go with this gorgeous lamb and tomato dish. The key is to combine the herbs and olive oil in a bowl and then marinate the lamb chops in the mixture for at least 24-hours.

 

  • Garlic Cloves

  • Rosemary

  • Lamb Rib Chops

  • Olive Oil

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Cherry Tomatoes

 

Marinated Feta with Roasted Lemon

 

This cheese dish is a nice little starter that’s super different and super tasty. Just don’t fill up on it before you get to the rest of the meal! This recipe does takes a little bit of time, so be prepared to let it chill for 12 hours before serving it.

 

Grab these ingredients so you can get started:

 

  • Lemon

  • Olive Oil

  • Feta

  • Dried Red Chiles

  • Bay Leaves

  • Lemon Juice

  • Black Pepper

 

Beets with Goat Cheese and Pistachios

 

This is a nice, earthy dish that pairs well with a glass of wine before your main course. All you have to do to make it mix a bunch of ingredients together in a skillet and steam it. It should take about 40 minutes to get everything nice and tender.

  • White Wine Vinegar

  • Paprika

  • Goat Cheese

Apple and Nut-Butter Puff Pastry

 

Last but not least, it’s time for dessert! No Valentine’s Day is complete without some form of sweets, so leave yourself time before dinner to make this dish.

  • Frozen Puff Pastry

  • Flour

  • Roasted Peanuts

  • Salt

  • Sugar

  • Eggs

  • Peanut Butter

  • Apple Butter
